Solar Power International 2011 is off to an incredible start, and the Enphase booth has been bustling with activity. One of the top attractions so far has been the installation competition we’ve been hosting every hour on a demo array.
The challenge is to install a system of four mock solar panels with Enphase M215 microinverters and Engage cable faster than an opponent working directly across from you. We’re tracking both the head-to-head winners as well as the overall leader, and the fastest time at the end of the conference will receive an iPad 2, compliments of Enphase.
So far the fastest times have come in under the 3-minute mark, but we’ve compressed a competition down to just over a minute so you can see the installers in action. The two installers here are (on the left) Mark Santos, Director of Business Development at Premier Power in El Dorado Hills, CA, and (on the right) Jim Jenal, CEO of Run on Sun in Pasadena, CA.
The competition will continue for the rest of the SPI exhibition and runs hourly from 10:00am to 5:00pm. If you think you have what it takes to set the record, come sign up and give it a try.
Jim Jenal also blogged about doing the install competition; check out his post here.
The final showdown was a blazing quick race between Adam and 16-year-old installer Dusty from Hawaii, who came in second with a narrow loss at 1:36. Congratulations to you both! They each went home with iPad 2s along with some pretty great bragging rights.
We want to thank all of the installers who came by and participated in the competition. And while it was fun to show off how fast and easy the Enphase Microinverter System is to install, our installers all emphasize the importance of patience and following through on the details to produce high-quality installs.
