More on Enphase Entrust
Enphase Cycle of Quality
At Enphase we believe that quality and reliability are the responsibility of the entire company. As such, we follow an end-to-end process - from development through manufacture - based on the principles and philosophy of the Six Sigma Quality Process (GE, Keke R. Bhote).
This approach includes:
- The involvement of the quality team at the outset of product definition.
- Incorporation of field lessons in all new designs.
- The comprehensive tracking of data and feeding of test experience back to the engineering team.
- The use of carrier-class quality standards (99.9999%) in manufacturing to ensure every operates perfectly in the field.
The selection of all components is carefully made to ensure that they will last longer than 25 years. These choices have been validated by multiple third party evaluations.
While some in the industry point to electrolytic capacitors as a potential weak link, they mistakenly cite prior examples in central inverter devices, where these components are operated under high stress and at high temperature.
Extensive testing and field data shows that Enphase Microinverters do not stress these components due to the fact they operate at low power (equivalent to a single solar module) and low temperatures (due to Enphases' highly efficient power conversion).
Even in extreme ambient temperature environments, such as Phoenix, AZ, Enphase Microinverters are operating far below their maximum temperature specification and do not stress these components. In addition, each microinverter is hermetically sealed to protect the internal components from the risk environmental corrosion over the life of the product.
System Uptime
Enphase-equipped systems have no single point of failure. As a result, the Enphase Microinverter System increases the reliability (or "uptime") of PV installations of any size.
In a conventional solar installation, any problem with the inverter can shut down the entire system. In contrast, a microinverter failure only affects the output of a single solar module. The impact on total system power output is minimal, and the failed microinverter can be replaced during a regularly scheduled maintenance, instead of requiring emergency repair.
Replacing an Enphase Microinverter is very simple compared to replacing or servicing a conventional string inverter. It requires no specialized personnel, equipment, or tools. The microinverter outputs safe AC electricity, and its modular design allows quick-and-easy replacement using basic hand tools.
In addition, the microinverter monitors PV module performance continuously. The user is immediately notified if a problem occurs, and what kind of problem it is.
The uptime of a solar energy system using an Enphase Microinverter is greater than 99.8 percent. This metric is especially critical for large commercial installations.
