To Chris Hammerstone and Jeremy Nicholson, co-owners of Sunergy Corp., customer experience is paramount.
“Chris and I have always been aligned with doing right by the customer,” said Jeremy in a recent conversation with Enphase. “It’s an undying passion for us to offer the best customer experience possible.”
Sunergy, a leading residential and commercial installer of custom solar and battery energy storage solutions, was founded in 2015. Now, almost a decade later, the company has grown from its beginnings in Orange County, California, and now proudly services the entire state. In that time, Sunergy has also built a shining reputation for exceptional service and seamless, high-quality systems.
Expertise meets transparency
Since its inception, Sunergy has brought a personal, consultative approach to its customer experience through transparency and comprehensive education. With more than 30 years of combined experience in the solar industry, Chris and Jeremy ensure that every customer is well-informed about the capabilities and limitations of their energy systems.
“As the experts, we often know what customers want without them having to ask,” said Chris. “At the same time, it’s important to us that they feel comfortable with their investment so that they can make an educated decision.”
“There are so many unknowns and misconceptions out there,” added Jeremy. “Especially when it comes to batteries and NEM 3.0. But we make sure to break down these complex concepts so people have a solid understanding of what they’re getting with their new home upgrade.”
The Sunergy team feels that the industry as a whole has not adequately educated homeowners about what their batteries can and can’t do. Sunergy does an exceptional job of helping clients understand the differences and then building solutions that are tailored to their needs.
“There are no curveballs coming down the pike for our customers,” Chris continued. “We try to give every one of them peace of mind by taking care of everything so that they can really enjoy the experience. Year over year, this approach has resonated with people.”
A client experience like no other
Core to providing an enjoyable client experience, Sunergy only uses the highest-quality hardware and software solutions. The company also does not subcontract any of its work, enabling it to maintain its high standards for safe and efficient installs.
Sunergy started partnering with Enphase in 2019 and has since evolved into a Platinum level installer of Enphase products, regularly working with Enphase on beta projects to test out the latest technology. For Sunergy, the Enphase solution stands out for its seamless integration of various energy system components, offering a user-friendly experience in the Enphase App. Using the app, owners can coordinate all their devices and monitor their system’s production—and even keep track of their own energy consumption.
“Other providers don't provide consumption monitoring, and this lack of visibility for the client can lead to high true-up bills down the road,” explained Jeremy. “Additionally, Enphase enables us to provide consumption monitoring on every job, and Sunergy provides it for free to every client so our customers are never blindsided. This visibility also enables owners to maximize their ROI by adjusting their consumption habits to their system’s production.”
“Enphase has the best integration of all these products together, and it’s continuing to innovate and come out with new technology,” Jeremy noted. “That’s why we love Enphase so much. We love the warranties, we love the solution, and we think it’s the best one out there.”
A bright future
Sunergy’s dedication to client satisfaction and innovative energy solutions has paid off. Since NEM 3.0 took effect in California, the installer has seen a fourfold increase in sales.
“The foundation for this growth started five years ago when we started selling Enphase batteries, so we already had a great understanding of their value in the California market,” stated Chris.
“We also really focused on educating our clients on what this new reality looks like and why batteries are needed,” Jeremy added. “That’s been a huge impetus for our growth.”
Today, more than 90% of Sunergy’s installs include Enphase batteries that provide either whole home or partial home backup.
“Customers are buying solar and storage from us,” Chris said. “But they’re really buying an experience. Enphase seamlessly integrates everything into the same app, making the best experience for the customer. It’s the right solution. It’s what we put in our own homes. And that’s what we sell to our clients.”
