“Most of our clients are willing to pay for a product that mitigates long-term risk and provides an unambiguous method for verifying value. Enphase and Enlighten, [the Enphase software platform], do that better than any other product at this time.”

North State Solar president Mike Houar

Why solar?

Steve Stoltenberg of Artois Feed, a commercial feed mill in California, wanted to find a way to mitigate energy costs that had increased significantly over recent years. Installer North State Solar built a 17 kilowatt (kW) solar system to test out two brands of microinverters, while also offsetting the energy consumption at Stoltenberg’s home.

Why Enphase?

Enphase microinverters outperformed the competition by about 30%, so it was a no-brainer to use them in the larger 535 kW solar system for Artois Feed. To North State Solar, it is extremely valuable that Enphase microinverters are effective in both small residential and larger commercial applications, because it simplifies the design process and streamlines installations. The larger system now offsets most of the feed mill’s energy consumption, saving an estimated $138,000 each year.
