IQ Battery is charged with the power produced on all phases within the permissible limits determined by the local grid operator's phase imbalance limitations.
Enphase IQ Battery is compatible with all models of string inverters.
Grid-tied IQ Battery will work only when a stable grid is available. It does not support backup operation.
Up to 20 IQ Battery 3Ts can be installed using a single IQ Gateway Metered, provided the installed power capacity is within the limit set by the local grid operator.
IQ Batteries do not require a hybrid inverter or standalone inverter because they are AC-coupled products incorporating bi-directional Enphase microinverters.
IQ Batteries cannot be used alongside third-party storage. Enphase recommends using an IQ Battery either with Enphase microinverters or a recommended third-party string inverter.
Third-party inverter details will be added by the installer during commissioning using the Enphase Installer App and will be visible in the Enphase App.
integrate an IQ Battery with an existing third-party inverter, you will need to install an IQ Gateway Metered, Consumption and Production Current Transformers, a wireless Communications Kit and an IQ Relay. In some instances, where the IQ Battery is located at some distance from the IQ Gateway Metered, Range Extender(s) may be required to increase the range of the Communications Kit. In locations without broadband internet, a Mobile connect cellular modem will also be needed.
Currently, Enphase does not support adding the IQ Batteries to this configuration. We expect to support this configuration in the future.
No, Enphase does not control the third-party string inverter.
No, the Production CT measures the total production from the third-party string inverter. This system-level data is presented in the Enphase App for the system owner.
Yes, both single-phase and three-phase third-party string inverters are supported.
Charging or discharge to the grid is measured on the aggregate level. IQ Battery will discharge on one phase to support the loads on a different phase within the permissible limits set by the phase imbalance restrictions of the local grid operator.
