How much energy should my array produce?

Many factors determine a system’s energy production on a rooftop, compared to its energy production in standard testing conditions. Your solar professional may have provided a production estimate using estimation tools like PVGIS. Estimation tools consider many factors such as location, seasonal variation, roof pitch, wiring, and electrical losses to calculate production estimates.

You can use the following formula for a simple estimate:
DC system size (kW) × hours of sun/day × system efficiency = estimated AC daily energy production

Example:
5 kW × 5 hr/day × 0.77 = 19.25 kWh/day

While ordering microinverters with integrated MC4 connectors, do I get the Q-DCC-2 adapter cable too?

Microinverters with integrated MC4 connectors will not be shipped with a Q-DCC-2 adapter cable, as they are no longer necessary.

Will installers use the same commissioning and monitoring software for Enphase Commercial Energy Systems as I do for other Enphase installations?

Yes, you will use the same commissioning and monitoring application for commercial systems, and you will be able to monitor your entire fleet of installed systems, irrespective of individual site type or microinverter.

Where can I get data sheets for microinverters with integrated MC4 connectors?

Download the data sheets or browse all our technical publications in the Documentation Centre.

Can my system produce power on a cloudy day?

On cloudy or rainy days, your system produces less energy compared to days with a clear sky. The impact of clouds on your system’s energy production varies depending on the cloud cover and the duration it obscures sunlight over your panels during the day.

Maximum energy is produced when the sky is bright and clear—especially if the angle of the panels towards the sun is optimal and the temperature is cool, since solar panels work more efficiently in lower temperatures. If the weather is clear but production is still low, check for dirt, snow, shade, or debris on the surface of the solar panels.

How do I learn more about the Enphase microinverter families?

Refer to https://enphase.com/en-gb/installers/microinverters and learn more about Enphase microinverters.

Why is my solar panel rating higher than my microinverter rating?

PV modules seldom produce power at their test condition power rating. This leads installers to pair PV modules with power ratings higher than the inverter power rating. In many locations, high DC:AC ratios may not result in significant clipping losses. To learn more, refer to the U.S.-based technical brief, which can be accessed at https://www4.enphase.com/sites/default/files/downloads/support/Enphase-Tech-Brief-Why-Larger-EN-US_0.pdf.

Is there a webinar where homeowners can learn more about Enphase Energy System?
How does the Enphase Energy System work?

The Enphase Energy System brings solar, batteries, and software together in one complete package so that you can make, use, save, and sell your own power. To learn more, please visit https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLqZbVBLbVZ5v0Tlpo3z05ybe7a7245YZ3.

What are the SKUs available for IQ8 Series Microinverters and what are their specifications?

IQ8MC, IQ8AC, and IQ8HC Microinverters will be available. The data sheet contains all information related to specifications and can be found here.

Where can I find an IQ8 Series Microinverter data sheet?

The IQ8 Series Microinverter data sheet can be found here.

What is the benefit of using IQ8 Series Microinverters over IQ7 Series Microinverters?

The IQ8MC, IQ8AC, and IQ8HC Microinverters provide a higher DC current handling capacity of 14 A, making them compatible with new high-current PV modules. In addition, the IQ8HC Microinverter provides 384 VA, for pairing with high-wattage PV modules up to 530 W.

Do IQ8 Series Microinverters support real-time monitoring in the Enphase App?

Yes.

What is the warranty for IQ8 Series Microinverters?

IQ8 Series Microinverters come with a 25-year warranty.

Are IQ8 Series Microinverters compatible with Enphase IQ Batteries?

Yes.

Do IQ8 Series Microinverters work with third-party battery solutions?

Yes, IQ8 Series Microinverters can work with third-party battery solutions. Please review your system design with Enphase Support prior to installing and commissioning the system.

Can I add IQ8 Series Microinverters to an existing system with M, IQ6, or IQ7 Series Microinverters?

No. The IQ Gateway, Standard or Metered, does not support mixing IQ8 Series Microinverters with previous generations of Enphase microinverters.

Do IQ8 Series Microinverters work with ACB 1.0/1.5?

No.

Is there any change in installation and commissioning of IQ8 Series Microinverters as compared to IQ7 Series Microinverters?

There is no change in the installation process and procedure. IQ8 Series Microinverters must be commissioned using Installer App version 3.33 or above.

Can the Installer App 2.0, which has the grey-colored icon, be used to commission IQ8 Series Microinverters?

No.

Are there any special installation instructions for microinverters with integrated MC4 connectors?

There are no special instructions for microinverters with integrated MC4 connectors. Please follow the same installation practices as outlined in the Enphase installation manual.

Are there training courses available to get educated on IQ8 Series Microinverters?

Yes. Please visit the Training and Certification page for more information.

What are the available certifications for IQ8 Series Microinverters?

Certifications EN50549-1, VFR 2019, IEC 62109-1/-2, IEC 61000-3/-6, IEC 50065-1/-2, EN55011, G98, G99, and G100 are available.

Do IQ8 Series Microinverters work with the existing IQ Gateway and IQ Relay?

Yes. The existing IQ Gateway, Metered and Standard, and IQ Relay, three-phase and single-phase, work with IQ8 Series Microinverters.

What is the RMA process for IQ8 Series Microinverters?

There is no change in the RMA process for IQ8 Series Microinverters. It remains the same as IQ7 Series Microinverters: call Enphase Support and request an RMA via the Enphase App, Installer App, or Enphase Installer Portal.

Who should I reach out to for questions that are not listed here?

Please contact Enphase Support.

Is there a cost difference between the two microinverter types?

No, there is no price difference between the microinverters that have integrated MC4 connectors and those that use adapter cables.

Can the installer reduce the cable slack to connect to the solar panel lead cable?

It doesn't use an external bulkhead adapter, so the overall cable is a bit less. However, module leads are typically 4 to 6 feet long, so the impact is minimal.

What three-phase commercial solutions does Enphase offer to installers?
  • Installers can currently deploy Enphase solutions for three-phase electrical service customers utilizing the Enphase IQ7+, Q Cable and IQ Commercial Gateway. This provides a 208V three-phase solar PV solution compatible with 208V three-phase electrical main service panels and 480V electrical main service panels when the PV is connected to the low side of a 480-208 transformer. For locations requiring loss of phase detection. The Enphase Three Phase Network Protection Relay, which includes the IQ Commercial Gateway, offers loss of phase detection for sites that need it.

Will microinverters requiring MC4 adapter cables be phased out completely?

Yes, all microinverters will eventually have integrated MC4 connectors. We are gradually transitioning each inverter in a phased manner.

Will system owners use the same Enphase App to monitor their Commercial Enphase Energy System as their home energy system?
  • Yes, all system owners will utilize the same app, irrespective of system type. Owners with multiple systems can access all their Enphase systems from a single login to the Enphase App.

How can installers tell if the firmware has been updated?

In the Enphase Installer Portal (formally known as Enlighten Manager):

1. Click on “Systems” tab
2. Select a system from the list
3. Click the “Devices” tab
4. The "Processor Load" column will show the existing firmware version
