How much energy should my array produce?

Many factors determine a system’s energy production on a rooftop, compared to its energy production in standard testing conditions. Your solar professional may have provided a production estimate using estimation tools like PVGIS. Estimation tools consider many factors such as location, seasonal variation, roof pitch, wiring, and electrical losses to calculate production estimates.

You can use the following formula for a simple estimate:
DC system size (kW) × hours of sun/day × system efficiency = estimated AC daily energy production

Example:
5 kW × 5 hr/day × 0.77 = 19.25 kWh/day

While ordering microinverters with integrated MC4 connectors, do I get the Q-DCC-2 adapter cable too?

Microinverters with integrated MC4 connectors will not be shipped with a Q-DCC-2 adapter cable, as they are no longer necessary.

Will installers use the same commissioning and monitoring software for Enphase Commercial Energy Systems as I do for other Enphase installations?

Yes, you will use the same commissioning and monitoring application for commercial systems, and you will be able to monitor your entire fleet of installed systems, irrespective of individual site type or microinverter.

Where can I get data sheets for microinverters with integrated MC4 connectors?

Download the data sheets or browse all our technical publications in the Documentation Centre.

Can my system produce power on a cloudy day?

On cloudy or rainy days, your system produces less energy compared to days with a clear sky. The impact of clouds on your system’s energy production varies depending on the cloud cover and the duration it obscures sunlight over your panels during the day.

Maximum energy is produced when the sky is bright and clear—especially if the angle of the panels towards the sun is optimal and the temperature is cool, since solar panels work more efficiently in lower temperatures. If the weather is clear but production is still low, check for dirt, snow, shade, or debris on the surface of the solar panels.

How do I learn more about the Enphase microinverter families?

Refer to https://enphase.com/en-gb/installers/microinverters and learn more about Enphase microinverters.

Why is my solar panel rating higher than my microinverter rating?

PV modules seldom produce power at their test condition power rating. This leads installers to pair PV modules with power ratings higher than the inverter power rating. In many locations, high DC:AC ratios may not result in significant clipping losses. To learn more, refer to the U.S.-based technical brief, which can be accessed at https://www4.enphase.com/sites/default/files/downloads/support/Enphase-Tech-Brief-Why-Larger-EN-US_0.pdf.

Is there a webinar where homeowners can learn more about Enphase Energy System?
How does the Enphase Energy System work?

The Enphase Energy System brings solar, batteries, and software together in one complete package so that you can make, use, save, and sell your own power. To learn more, please visit https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLqZbVBLbVZ5v0Tlpo3z05ybe7a7245YZ3.

Are there any special installation instructions for microinverters with integrated MC4 connectors?

There are no special instructions for microinverters with integrated MC4 connectors. Please follow the same installation practices as outlined in the Enphase installation manual.

Is there a cost difference between the two microinverter types?

No, there is no price difference between the microinverters that have integrated MC4 connectors and those that use adapter cables.

Can the installer reduce the cable slack to connect to the solar panel lead cable?

It doesn't use an external bulkhead adapter, so the overall cable is a bit less. However, module leads are typically 4 to 6 feet long, so the impact is minimal.

Will microinverters requiring MC4 adapter cables be phased out completely?

Yes, all microinverters will eventually have integrated MC4 connectors. We are gradually transitioning each inverter in a phased manner.
