Here’s what we’re working on and thinking about at Enphase.

Ensemble™ energy management technology is the world’s first all-in-one smart energy system. Designed entirely by Enphase, Ensemble technology allows you to easily generate and store clean power from your solar installation, which can all be controlled with a single mobile app.

What does Ensemble technology do?

Ensemble technology is a tightly integrated system built around:

René Voss lives in Northern California and spends his workdays as an attorney focused on natural resources law for non-profit organizations. In the spring of 2018, René turned his passion for renewable energy and environmental activism into action by going solar. Unlike most homeowners, however, René designed, sourced, and installed the solar system on his house. Armed with a knack for research and an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering he received in 1986, he completed his solar installation and documented his experience in painstaking detail.

Continuing our Solar Glossary series, we’re wrapping up with Part 3: terms related to financing, contracts, and purchasing solar. These would not be as exciting as a brand new solar and storage system on your house, but these are some of the most important terms you’ll need to know before going solar.

Community solar: A shared solar system that serves more than one home, household, or group of buildings. Community solar systems can range from a system for an apartment complex, a community garden, or an entire neighborhood of single-family homes.

In part 2 of our Solar Glossary series, we’re exploring the hardware and software components that make up a solar power system. You’ll see these terms often when comparing one system to another, so it’s helpful to get to know them. We’re also including here the names of some of the most commonly mentioned Enphase Components, to help you understand what they are and how they fit into the system.

Solar batteries were once beyond the financial reach of the average American homeowner. But thanks to increased capacities and falling prices, solar storage solutions are increasingly becoming standard with modern home solar systems. This shift is creating innovative ways for solar customers to grow their savings.

The AC module, ACM or AC solar panel is the optimization of solar on the rooftop. The concept of AC modules originates back with NASA in the 1980s; the patents for the technology were acquired by Sanyo, a subsidiary of Panasonic in the 1990s and acquired yet again by Enphase in 2014. The AC module combines three separate parts into a single product — solar panel, microinverter and accompanying cable for connecting to the rest of the solar system.
