Here’s what we’re working on and thinking about at Enphase.

The Enphase team was back on the trade show floor last week at Solar Canada 2011, Canadian Solar Industries Associations’ (CanSIA) annual conference and exposition. The event kicked off with live Enphase pre-show trainings on Sunday, December 4th, to an eager audience wanting to learn tips and tricks to installing the Enphase Microinverter System (for those who have been unable to attend a live

"Goldie" the Millionth Microinverter recently took a journey to visit the Enphase operations in Europe in anticipation of Enphase beginning commercial product shipments into various European countries. We were able to capture her experiences in the following photo album, including Enphase European office visits, a trip to an Enphase installation in France and some fun leisure activities. Take at look at what Goldie got up to in the EU:

One of the things we most enjoy watching is how our microinverters and AC-based systems are changing the possibilities for installed solar. In Eagan, MN, engineer Mouli Vaidyanathan, PhD, illustrates this ingenuity with the SolarPodTM – an “off the roof” solar unit powered by Enphase.

At Enphase, we've seen that there’s no one “type” that becomes a solar installer. We’ve met Enphase customers of all cultures, ages, races and genders. But when 16-year-old Hawaiian surfer Dusty Psaila visited the Enphase booth at Solar Power International 2011, he undeniably stood out as unique.

Earlier this month we announced the shipment of our millionth microinverter, and we took a moment for a celebration at our booth on Tuesday of the show. We had quite a crowd show up to help us enjoy our microinverter-shaped cake! The millionth unit also made an appearance decked out in a special golden cover plate, pictured below.

Solar Power International 2011 is off to an incredible start, and the Enphase booth has been bustling with activity. One of the top attractions so far has been the installation competition we’ve been hosting every hour on a demo array.

The challenge is to install a system of four mock solar panels with Enphase M215 microinverters and Engage cable faster than an opponent working directly across from you. We’re tracking both the head-to-head winners as well as the overall leader, and the fastest time at the end of the conference will receive an iPad 2, compliments of Enphase.

In September, we passed a very significant milestone: the 1,000,000th microinverter.

It seems hard to believe that we shipped our first microinverter just three years ago.

At the time, we were introducing a completely new inverter technology into an industry focused on module innovations.

We knew that our approach offered a clear answer to installations with shade or mixed orientation problems. But it turned out that this was only the tip of the iceberg.
