Here’s what we’re working on and thinking about at Enphase.

Building tangible things in the material world isn’t really my forte. I build business processes for profitable growth, but I’m easily lost with hammers, nails, and tool belts. When I joined the Enphase team last summer, I didn’t know what I didn’t know about the world of solar. I’d seen panels on rooftops, I’d understood the benefits to both the environment and consumers’ pocketbooks, but the nitty gritty was pretty foreign.

Every year Enphase employees participate in GRID Alternatives’ Solarthon, a solar installation block party that brings solar power to deserving families in low-income communities. On September 10, a crew of Enphase employees, alongside 100 other volunteers, spent time on roofs adding solar to nine homes at the Habitat for Humanities’ Mt. Burdell development in Novato, California.

Enphase CEO Paul Nahi received an award at Interconnections 2016, an annual event held in San Francisco by GRID Alternatives, the nation’s largest non-profit solar installer, in honor of the contributions Enphase has made towards making solar available to low income families. Enphase has partnered with GRID since 2010, providing both Enphase microinverters and volunteer hours to help bring solar to deserving families around the United States.

GRID Alternatives, a nonprofit dedicated to bringing the benefits of solar energy to low-income communities, has started wrapping up 2014 with their last four installations. Enphase volunteers had the opportunity to join GRID on their latest installation in Richmond, CA, on what volunteers described as “a perfect day for solar.”

For two straight days it was tool belts and ladders for Enphase employees as they scaled one hot rooftop in Sebastopol, CA. The quaint town just north of San Francisco is home to organic-enthusiasts, a vibrant art scene and an apple fair legendary for its pies and ciders. And for its residents, who eat clean and drive clean, the people of Sebastopol like their energy clean, too.

A new town ordinance requiring solar installation on all future construction marked Sebastopol, CA, as one of the state’s leading environmental cities. But Sebastopol gained another solar win this past week, bringing clean energy to the community through GRID Alternatives and the volunteers from Enphase Energy.
