Enphase Makes Every Day Earth Day

Sustainable living though smart, solar technology is an Enphase mission developed to empower people everywhere to take control of their energy future and reduce dependency on harmful and expensive energy sources. Earth Day is the culmination of all we work toward, so here’s a small glimpse into our commitment to a cleaner planet and better future.

When Enphase co-founders Martin Fornage and Raghu Belur set out to develop the world’s first commercially available microinverter, their idea was simple: make solar energy more efficient and easily accessible. Eight years and 5 million microinverters later, Enphase Energy globalized smart solar technology that allows more people to install than ever before.

There are currently 147,150 Enphase Systems around the world creating 1.66TWh of clean energy. That’s equivalent to planting 97,769 acres of trees!

But Enphase’s pledge to environmental improvement doesn’t stop with the success of our technology; rather it’s the beginning.

Social responsibility is an essential part of the Enphase culture, and one way we stay involved with our community is through GRID Alternatives, a nonprofit that works to bring the benefits of solar technology to low-income communities. GRID relies on its sponsors to put solar on the roof, so this year Enphase has renewed—and increased—its 2014 corporate sponsorship of GRID Alternatives that strengthens our four-year partnership.

Over the last four years, GRID and Enphase have powered over 1,000 low-income homes across the U.S., generating over $25 million in long-term savings. The expanded partnership of 2014 will use donations of Enphase technology to serve an additional 350-400 families. These installations will also provide thousands of solar job seekers with hands-on experience and job training.

Enphase employees are also doing their part to make the planet a better place.

Through GRID, Enphase employees have donated more than 2,200 volunteer hours for families throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.

Enphase employees have also started company clubs, like the Bike Club and Gardening Club, where they can share their environmental passions with their co-workers.

Not to mention the dozens of employees who drive electric vehicles or ride their bike to work everyday!

Whether it’s in the office, at home or on the road, Enphase makes it easy for everyone to reduce their carbon footprint.
