Enphase CEO Paul Nahi received an award at Interconnections 2016, an annual event held in San Francisco by GRID Alternatives, the nation’s largest non-profit solar installer, in honor of the contributions Enphase has made towards making solar available to low income families. Enphase has partnered with GRID since 2010, providing both Enphase microinverters and volunteer hours to help bring solar to deserving families around the United States. More than 3,000 solar installations for low-income families are using Enphase technology that helps them reap the benefits of clean, renewable energy.
The Interconnection celebration and fundraiser brings renewable energy technology leaders and policy makers together in support of making renewable technologies and job training related to those technologies more accessible to low income communities. GRID co-founder and CEO Erica Mackie presented awards to both Enphase Energy and California Senate President pro Tem, Kevin de León. The ceremony took place at the Terra Gallery in San Francisco.
Paul Nahi said that "to decarbonize the planet, we have to create an economic case for it, and that economic case can not just apply to the top tier. That economic case has to apply to everybody, and it takes an organizatiuon like GRID ... to make it happen.
"The evolution of putting one solar module on a house at a time, slowly becomes a revolution. That revolution is needed for us, for our children, and for our grandchildren to have a sustainable economy and a sustainable planet," he said.
So far this year, Enphase employees have worked on three installations in the Bay Area, with additional installs on tap for later this year. Our employees have donated 2,600 volunteer hours benefiting 27 low-income families, and we have worked on three more installations in 2016, with more to come later this year.
Enphase is committed to working with organizations like GRID Alternatives to help make the company’s mission of clean energy for everyone a reality – we are tremendously honored to have their recognition, and look forward to many more years of working together.
