Receive incentives by unlocking the full potential of your battery system

Get paid to help the grid

New and existing Enphase battery owners who are Gexa Energy customers can earn ongoing incentives by making their battery systems available to discharge during times that will help Gexa manage peak demand on the electric grid.

Gexa customers participating in the Gexa Battery Benefits program commit to allowing Gexa to determine their battery system charge and discharge behavior throughout the term of the contract. In return, Gexa has committed to pay participants $50 for each month that they participate in the program, subject to the terms and conditions listed on the Gexa Battery Benefits webpage.

Support a reliable grid for your community

By helping reduce peak demand on the grid, you’ll be helping reduce the likelihood of power outages in your community. Reducing peak demand can also reduce the use of natural gas peaker power plants, helping deliver a cleaner grid and more affordable power for everyone. Your battery will not discharge below a 20% Backup Reserve, allowing you to support a more reliable grid while always maintaining backup energy capacity for your home.

FAQs

Within the Gexa mobile app, you’ll be able to set your resilience energy reserve. By default, Gexa will set your battery to always retain at least 20% of its energy capacity as Backup Reserve.

Gexa’s Battery Benefits program is included with the Gexa Battery Benefits 100% renewable electricity plan. It can help you earn financial incentives and reduce your carbon footprint when you allow Gexa to remotely manage your battery. The stored energy that your battery discharges through the program will help support the Texas grid during times of peak demand.

All Gexa customers with an Enphase battery system are eligible to participate in Battery Benefits.

Visit the Gexa Battery Benefits webpage to get started. After receiving confirmation of your enrollment from Gexa, Enphase will finalize your enrollment.

Yes, customer battery systems including IQ Battery 3T, IQ Battery 10T, and IQ Battery 5P units are all eligible to participate in Battery Benefits.

Gexa will discharge your battery throughout an event, or down to the minimum state of charge you set in the mobile app.

You can always adjust your personal energy reserve in the Gexa mobile app settings page. Gexa does not allow the set point to be below 20%.

You will be enrolled in the Gexa Battery Benefits program for the term specified in your Electricity Facts Label (EFL).

If you want to leave the Battery Benefits program, you can call Gexa’s customer service team to cancel your contract with Gexa. Terms and conditions may apply.

IQ Batteries will remain active, with backup mode enabled, if a grid outage occurs during a Battery Benefits event. Gexa will not call Battery Benefits events when severe weather is likely to create a power outage—i.e., Battery Benefits events will not occur when your battery system’s Storm Guard mode is activated. Your battery system will always retain a 20% Backup Reserve.

You will be able to opt out of a specific Gexa Battery Benefits event by selecting the override button displayed in the Gexa mobile app during the event. Opting out of an event will prevent Gexa from using your battery for an entire event. Note that excessive overrides may result in Gexa disallowing the bill credit for a given billing cycle.

Events may occur whenever there is a grid emergency and/or shortage of energy on the Texas grid.
