What’s new for all ITK users

  • Installers will be allowed to delete wrongly created/duplicate systems in the following scenarios
    • In case systems are synched to Enlighten: System stage in Enlighten < 3 and no devices are present in the system.
    • In case systems are not synched to Enlighten: Provisioning is not initiated yet.

image001.png

  • The installer toolkit would now be supporting Portuguese and Polish language.
  • Selection of commercial and residential on activation page will now be a radio button instead of a dropdown for better clarity.

image003.png

  • Installer Toolkit will now remind installers commissioning a commercial system that Ensemble devices are only supported for residential systems.

image005.png

  • Grid profile improvements
    • Grid profile will now become Envoy specific instead of being site-specific. Installers can choose 2 separate grid profiles for different Envoys on the same site. Installers will now be prompted to select grid profile after scanning Envoy.
      image007.png   image009.png   image011.png
    • Installer Toolkit will only show only relevant grid profiles based on the system type.
    • Installer Toolkit will provide more information about the grid profile while selecting the grid profile and while changing the default grid profile.
      image013.png
    • Installer Toolkit will prompt the user to change to recommended grid profile if the installer is installing a system in a different state in the US.
      image015.png
    • Installers can now choose different grid profiles for different Envoy in a multi-Envoy system.
      image017.jpg
  • Performance improvements are done on various screens to reduce the loading time.
  • Installer Toolkit will now remind the installer to enable GPS and provide location permission before connecting to Envoy in AP mode.

image019.png

Features available to Ensemble users

  • The live status which includes load, storage, PV, and grid values will be available as part of the meter wizard.

image022.png   image021.png   image024.png

  • Add a check to ensure PV is never turned on while checking for polarity issues across different phases in the consumption CT wizard. This will ensure that users cannot bypass the polarity issue error encountered due to the wrong placement of CT.

image026.png

  • The toolkit will remind users to keep the DC switch turned OFF when adding the Encharges and will remind them to turn ON once at least one of the Encharges has been provisioned.
image029.png   image028.png   image031.png

image034.png   image036.png

  • Production meter wizard improvements
    • The meter wizard ensures that all the branch circuits are part of CT by comparing the reading with PLC. If the meter reading is too low (lack of production), the toolkit will highlight the possible risk of skipping this vital check as comparison can be accurate only when there is sufficient production. (at least 500 W)
      image038.png
    • On rare occasions, the meter reading can be more than PLC reported value due to the passing of additional PV through the CT in a multi-Envoy setup. The toolkit will highlight the issue in a pop-up to ensure the user is aware of the possibility of additional PV.
      image040.png
  • The functional validation process is now simplified with the following improvements
    • The requirement to do grid transition physically is now removed and the users are required to do fewer grid transitions.
    • The ON-grid testing steps have been removed and the user needs to spend less time validating the system.

releasenote-21-part-1.pngreleasenote-21-part-2.png

  • Consumption CT wizard will display the status of Encharges along with meter reading. The Installer Toolkit will highlight if the Encharges are not discharging when the PV is off.

image058.png

  • The Enpower images available in the Toolkit will contain the lugs to provide a more accurate block diagram.

diagram.jpg

  • The manual override instructions will always be available for users to access under Enpower detailed screen.

image063.png   image065.png

  • Installer Toolkit will now inform users to move closer to devices if the devices are not getting discovered during provisioning.

image067.png

  • Supporting BMU update in the toolkit
    • When the BMU update is in progress, the toolkit will show ‘System configuration update in progress’ to installers similar to Encharge DMIR updates.
    • The Toolkit will not allow users to start functional validation when the BMU update is in progress.

image069.png

Bug Fixes

New Features

All Users

  1. The installer can now connect to an Envoy using the toolkit over Wi-Fi (Installer Toolkit and Envoy should be on the same Wi-Fi network). This would reduce the dependency on ‘AP mode’ connectivity which requires the user to be in close proximity to the Envoy.

    image001.png      image003.png

  2. Installers can view the strength of the Cell modem and Wi-Fi in the Envoy connectivity screen.

    image005.png    image007.png

  3. Installers can associate phases for provisioned AC batteries before completing commissioning.

    image010.png       image011.png

  4. Installers can now request a secure open connection between Envoy and Enphase support personnel. So that Customer Support can troubleshoot the issues by tunneling to the Envoy.

    image012.png     image014.png

    image016.png      image018.png

  5. Installers of the parent company were not given access to the activations having branch companies as the maintainer or installer. We’ve removed that restriction now.
  6. The installer will not be allowed to set Reserve SoC below 10% in any battery mode
  7. ITK will now be fully supported on the iPad

Ensemble Users
  • In a multiple Envoy system, you can now select an Envoy as an ‘Ensemble Envoy’ to differentiate the microinverters that are part of the microgrid. The Ensemble microinverters will be listed separately in the details screen.

image028.png         image030.png

image030.png         image034.png

  • When PV to storage check fails for a multiple Envoy system, Toolkit will provide the necessary instructions to move the additional microinverters from Ensemble Envoy to non-Ensemble Envoy.

    image036.png

  • The ‘Update all software’ button after completing provisioning is now made less prominent to encourage users to continue commissioning and automatically update the software later.

image038.jpg

  • Meter improvements

    1. For all users in the US doing Ensemble installation, both production and consumption meter wizards will contain in-app videos to help rewire the CTs.

      image041.png

    2. Performance improvement - The validation results in the production meter wizard is shown in real-time i.e less than 1 second
    3. Message improvement - The production meter error message will include instructions to make sure production CT only includes L1 PV generation circuits. Also, the instructions shown when consumption CT is reversed include the planning consumption tech brief link.
The results of the step 2 consumption wizard which includes polarity check are shown in real-time and users do not have to go to step 3 to see the results.

Bug fixes

  1. In case of an envoy software download failure, the Installer toolkit will automatically retry downloading the software and will not allow provisioning in case all files are not downloaded
  2. When only Enpower software is getting updated, the functional validation message will correctly display that the Ensemble software update is in progress.
  3. Fixed an issue where Ensemble certification was not found for certified users while installing ensemble devices in iOS
  4. Installers were not able to access the auto-tariff module in Installer Toolkit which is now fixed.

New Features

  • Installer Toolkit will remind the Installers to download the latest Envoy Software through a Notification on reopening the application (when there is one). Installers will not be allowed to proceed unless they have the latest Envoy Software.

  • You can now request access to a system/Envoy if you do not see the system on the home screen. Go to ‘Request system access’ under Support and enter the Envoy serial number to request access to the site. On successful submission of the request, the homeowner will receive an email to confirm and provide the access to the site.

  • The installer toolkit will provide the detailed version history of the application under settings. The details will include new features added, bug fixes, and performance improvements made available as part of different app updates

  Ensemble specific features

  • Users can now use the Enlighten Tariff module in Installer Toolkit. All Enlighten tariff features like Tiered, Auto, and Time-of-use will be accessible. The current tariff editor which supports all the basic functions will still be available when offline.

NOTE: Tariff Editor Lite is only available in the AP mode.

  • For a retrofit installation, Installer Toolkit will now Inform users to replace their existing non-compatible Envoy on adding Ensemble devices.

  • ITK will now automatically set the battery mode to recommended values for various stages of commissioning.

a. Before initiating functional validation, the battery mode would be set to ‘Self-Consumption’.
b. After functional validation is complete or aborted, the battery mode is set to ‘Full Back-up’ mode automatically to allow Encharges to charge 100% for optimal calibration.
c. Once the SOC level reaches 100%, the sites are set back to the previous battery mode set by the user.

  • ITK now provides an option to upgrade the microinverter firmware for Ensemble systems with M-series inverters. On adding the Ensemble devices, if the firmware of Microinverters is not upgraded, the Toolkit will provide an option to send the firmware upgrade request to the system (via Enlighten).

  • The Envoy connectivity with Enlighten over Wi-Fi or Ethernet has been made mandatory for Ensemble commissioning. Before provisioning the devices if the Envoy is not communicating with Enlighten via Wi-Fi or Ethernet, the installers will be asked to configure (the same).

  • The off-grid functional validation steps will be reduced from 9 to 6 as the Overload/ Blackstart test will no longer be supported.

  • Users will no longer see the ‘Beta’ version on launching the app

Bug Fixes

  1. Users are not allowed to access the array builder if they have recently changed their Enlighten password. The Toolkit will now log out the user and will inform to log back in.
  2. The installers were incorrectly shown the warning message ‘PV size exceeds the Encharge capacity’ when systems had the maximum allowed number of microinverters. The check has been improved to make sure it strictly adheres with the Ensemble design guide and the message is shown only when the number of allowed microinverters exceeds the limit.
  3. The latest Envoy software files are downloaded to the phone every time you re-login to the app. Going forward the download status of the software will be retained on logging back to the toolkit and the Envoy software files will not be downloaded.
  4. The toolkit earlier took around 4 minutes to load the Array builder. The performance of the app is now improved to load the array builder within 10 to 15 seconds.
  5. The Wireless Communication Kit status in the Encharge detailed screen was shown incorrectly and is fixed to accurately display the ‘Connectivity’ status.

Android Specific

  • In Android, on selecting ‘Install replacement’ and ‘Request return’ options for an unverified system, the user was redirected to the Enlighten manager home page incorrectly. Now the replace options will only be available for a system with a verified and communicating Envoy.
  • In Android, microinverters were getting provisioned on tapping ‘you can use WPS service to connect to your home Wi-Fi without password’ message under Wi-Fi connectivity screen. This is fixed to make sure no provisioning action is triggered on tapping the message .

iOS Specific

  • In iOS, the menu options at the bottom were hidden when user opened production/consumption meter detailed screens in non-AP mode. Now the menu options will be displayed in the detailed screen similar to android application.
  • In iOS, we have now fixed the issue where installers were blocked from provisioning Ensemble devices for systems located in Bermuda.

Ensemble Specific

Additional meter checks

  1. The production meter and consumption meter wizards will now conduct additional validations for all ensemble residential sites in the USA to make sure the CT connections are accurate.
    • In production meter wizard, the toolkit will validate that,
      • There are no negative readings across L1 and L2
      • There are no microinverters or branch circuits missed during CT installation
      • The readings across L1 and L2 are not imbalanced
    • The description is automatically generated in the consumption meter wizard. The toolkit will therefore validate that there are no issues with CT placement and wiring.

Production meter checks and messages

Version 3.0.7

New Features

1. You can now chat with our customer support team directly using the app. Go to Support -> Contact Us -> Chat with us

2. Installer Toolkit now provides diagnostic options to troubleshoot Envoy connection to Enlighten. This allows the user to ping any server to find out Envoy connectivity to the internet (and Enlighten).

3. Depending on the site type, Enphase downloads a different Envoy Software. We added quick info to provide a description for all Envoy software version used.

4. Installers can now add ‘Permit’, ‘Contract’ and ‘Installation’ dates for a site. The dates can be different for solar and storage installation.

5. If your site has large or heavy loads, the use of soft starter will be recommended by the Toolkit for an Ensemble site.

6. If your company is not Ensemble certified, the Installer Toolkit will provide a pop-up message instructing on the same when you add Ensemble devices count. This ensures that we provide warning to the installer before they visit site and find out they cannot commission an Ensemble system.

7. For an Ensemble system with M-series microinverters, if the firmware of microinverters is not updated in Enlighten, the toolkit will provide a reminder message.

Bug Fixes

1. Scroll issues on iPhone 5 and 6.

2. In Android, on completing the functional validation, the toolkit will automatically set the battery mode to ‘Full Back-up’, similar to iOS. This will make sure the user does not have to sync the system with Enlighten to update the battery mode.

3. User was blocked from replacing the old Envoy as the Toolkit was incorrectly displaying ‘Envoy not connected in AP mode’ while configuring the Wi-Fi on new Envoy.

4. In addition to the checkbox for the user to inform switching off the PV, we now also validate that the production meter value has gone to zero to confirm that the PV was indeed switched off.

Faster Commissioning for Ensemble Devices

1. With the new Envoy 6.0.96 software update, the software of Ensemble devices (Encharge and Enpower) can be updated post commissioning. This will significantly reduce the time needed to install the system using the toolkit. The Enpower firmware will be mandatorily updated only if the current version is less than 20.34 and the installers can skip the rest of the software update and continue with meter configuration and functional testing.
