Enphase Installer App release notes (4.1.1)

What’s new

For all installers:

  1. Change in System Type, permitting, and PV Module details

    The Enphase Installer App will require installers to update the System Type, permitting, and PV Module details in Step 1 (System Details) of the commissioning process.

    It is recommended that site creation (Step 1) be completed using the new activation form in the Enphase Installer Portal.

  2. Ability to create an array without scanning microinverters

    Installers will now be able to create an array for an Enphase system before scanning microinverters. Alternatively, installers can access the Array Builder from the IQ Microinverters details screen.

For installers in North America:

  1. Support for Busbar Overload Control in Main Panel Upgrade Avoidance 

    Installers will be able to enable and configure Busbar Overload Control inside Main Panel Upgrade Avoidance, in addition to the Current Limit with NEC 120% Rule.

  1. Option to skip meter wizard steps for backup system commissioning

    Installers will be allowed to skip the Production Meter and Consumption Meter sub-steps in the validation step if they are commissioning a backup system with an IQ System Controller INT.

What’s new

For all installers:

  1. More intuitive site search screen

    We have revamped the site search screen of the Enphase Installer App. The improvements are:

    a. The new and more intuitive site search screen allows installers to quickly and easily find the sites they need to work on.

    b. Installers will see the systems recently worked on at the top of the list, ensuring quick access to current sites without the need for searching.

  2. Enhanced details in the Consumption CT wizard

    Installers will now be able to see PV production readings along with consumption readings in the Consumption CT wizard. This will facilitate faster diagnosis in case of wiring errors.

  3. Enhanced troubleshooting for Enphase Control Cable wiring

    If provisioning fails for an IQ System Controller 3/INT or IQ Battery 5P in a 3rd-generation Enphase Energy System, the app will now provide additional troubleshooting steps to ensure proper wiring of the Enphase Control Cable.

  4. Multi-gateway commissioning improvement

    We have improved the progress bar for multi-gateway systems to show accurate progress in both AP mode and non-AP mode.

  5. Commissioning alerts in low light conditions 

    Installers will receive an alert highlighting potential issues when attempting to commission a system in low light conditions, such as after sunset.

  6. Validation details in Summary Report

    The Summary Report now includes validation details, showing Complete status when validation has been attempted and successfully passed.

For installers in North America:

  1. Merged IQ Gateway software

    Multiple IQ Gateway software versions have been consolidated into a single bucket, reducing the software download size in the Enphase Installer App.

  2. Added non-backup storage commissioning for 208 V sites

    The app now allows grid-tied storage commissioning for sites with 208 V grid connections.

  3. Enabled installation of excess PV in third DER port

    Installers will now be allowed to install excess PV in the third DER port for backup-only storage configurations.

  4. Permission to Operate (PTO) details on System Details page

    In Step 1 (System Details), installers can now indicate if PTO has been received. Based on the input given, installers will be shown steps to disable solar and batteries as necessary or applicable.

  5. [California] Interconnection Application Date now required

    Installers now need to provide the interconnection application date when indicating that PTO has been received.

  6. [California] Setting Battery Mode for NEM 3.0 sites

    Installers can now set the battery mode for a NEM 3.0 site. They can choose between the Import Only and Export Only options on the battery mode selection page. Installers will have seven days to modify or rectify the battery mode selection, after which the option to change will be disabled.

For installers in Europe and the Middle East:

  1. Disabled PLC scan for cross-communication

    Multiple IQ Gateway software versions have been consolidated into a single bucket, reducing the software download size in the Enphase Installer App.

  2. Functional Validation for IQ Energy Router associated devices (EV chargers and heat pumps)

    In countries where the IQ Energy Management is available, installers will have an option to validate if associated peripherals like EV chargers and heat pumps are communicating and working properly.

For all installers:

  1. Error codes for Enphase system software update failures

    When an Enphase system software update fails, installers will now see the corresponding error codes. These codes can be referred to Enphase Support for better issue identification.

  2. Improved AP mode connection performance

    The performance of the AP mode connection in the Gateway Connectivity page has been enhanced.

What’s new

For all installers:

  1. With this release, the user experience has been revamped for a smoother installation and troubleshooting process.
  2. Rapid power production for IQ8 Microinverters

    The app will now make initial IQ8 power production significantly faster (< 5 minutes) during commissioning.

  3. Relaxing of cellular modem requirement for grid-tied storage systems

    Installers will now be able to commission a grid-tied storage system without installing a cellular modem. However, it is still mandatory to install a cellular modem for backup storage systems.

  4. Meter Wizard is now mandatory and Expert Mode has been removed

    Installers are now required to use the Meter Wizard to enable Production and Consumption Current Transformers (CTs). This ensures correct wiring of the CTs and enables installers to avoid delays in completing installation. Additionally, the Expert Mode feature to bypass the Meter Wizard and enable the meters has now been removed.

  5. Auto-start for battery firmware updates

    For systems with batteries, the app will auto-start a firmware update (if available) after completion of Functional Validation.

  6. Disabling production if permission to operate has not been granted

    Installers can now indicate if the utility has permitted the operation of the system, and turn off solar production if permission has not been received. If the system includes IQ Batteries, the app will show instructions on how to turn off the batteries and disable production if the utility has not yet permitted operation.

  7. Feedback after commissioning

    Installers can now provide feedback at the end of commissioning to let Enphase know how satisfied they were with the commissioning experience, and how the experience could be improved.

  8. Functional Validation is now mandatory

    Installers will now be blocked from downloading the summary report for a system in AP mode or non-AP mode until Functional Validation has been completed.

  9. Advising installers to avoid creating duplicate sites in the app

    Installers often create duplicate sites—for example, during system expansion, storage addition, or when upgrading a site under the Legacy Product Upgrade Program (LPUP). When duplicate sites are merged by Enphase Support, at the system owner’s or installer’s behest, data from one of the sites is lost. The app now advises installers to avoid creating duplicate sites while entering system details.

For installers in Europe and the Middle East:

  1. [Belgium and Netherlands] Installers in Belgium and Netherlands can now set Grid Interconnection Capacity, enabling the charge from grid feature.

  2. The app will block the installer and show an error if the production meter check in the Meter Wizard detects any battery activity captured by the production meter.
  3. The app will block the installer and show an error if one or more phase voltages are out of the operating range (20 V to 300 V).

What’s fixed

For all installers:

  1. Resolved an issue where homeowner walkthrough steps for storage devices were not shown.
  2. Resolved multiple issues on the login screen of the app.
  3. A guided flow is now enforced, preventing installers from proceeding to validation steps if device provisioning has not been completed.
  4. Other bug fixes and improvements.

What’s new

  1. Added the ability to perform Consumption CT health checks 
     

Installers can now navigate to the Consumption CT page under Devices and click Verify CT to initiate a series of checks on the respective Consumption CT. Verify CT triggers checks for the following four scenarios, and if any check fails, installers are provided with suggested actions to rectify the issue.

  • Configured as Load Only but installed as Load with Solar production
     
  • Configured as Load with Solar production but installed as Load Only
     
  • Consumption CTs are not installed but are enabled on the Enphase Installer Portal

  1. Grid connection year is now shown based on input in the Enphase Installer App
     
  • Installers can now view the Connection Year on the Settings page of the Enphase Installer Portal, based on the interconnection application date provided in the Enphase Installer App.
     
  • If the interconnection application date is unavailable, the connection year will be shown as Not Available.

  1. Resolved the issue of some Mexico users seeing a time in Enphase products that differed from their local time.

  3. Updated the terms and conditions of the Labor Protection Program agreement.

What’s new

For all installers:

  1. The app now allows adding IQ Microinverters to a new site if they were incorrectly added to another site by another installer

    The Enphase Installer App now facilitates the addition of IQ Microinverters to a new site. If an IQ Microinverter was incorrectly added to a different site and is not communicating with the Enphase Installer Portal, the app will automatically retire the IQ Microinverter from the old site when the installer attempts to add it to the new site.

  2. IQ Battery charge/discharge alert added

    A new informative message has been added to the functional validation screen for three-phase grid-tied IQ Battery sites. This alert notifies installers if the IQ Battery charge/discharge rate is limited to 100 W due to IQ Microinverter phase association.

For installers in the EMEA region:

  1. Going through meter wizard will now be mandatory for all storage commissioning

  2. Voltage check during Production CT enablement

    When enabling Production Current Transformers (CTs) in the EMEA region, the Enphase Installer App will now automatically check the voltage in each phase. Installation will be blocked if the voltage is outside the operational range (less than 20 V or greater than 300 V), ensuring compliance with regional standards.

  3. IQ Energy Router IP address details now viewable

    Installers commissioning IQ Energy Routers can now view the IP address and serial number of the IQ Energy Router within the Enphase Installer App. This feature simplifies the commissioning process for other peripherals by providing essential connectivity information.

  1. Resolved an issue that previously prevented installers from adding both an AC Battery and an IQ Battery 3T to the same site.

  2. The Enphase Installer App will no longer display the polarity flip option during validation of three-phase production and consumption meters, enhancing the accuracy of the installation validation process.

  3. Resolved an issue that was causing IQ Gateway updates to fail in the AU region.

  4. General app performance enhancements have been implemented, along with other minor bug fixes, to provide a smoother and more reliable experience for all users.

  1. Moved the Replace IQ Gateway feature under Support to the Request return and Install replacement menu within a specific site under Systems

    To simplify and streamline the replacement process, users can now only initiate the return of an IQ Gateway by scrolling to the bottom of the page of a particular site on the Systems page, and tapping on the Request return and Install replacement button followed by tapping Replace IQ Gateway.     For sites where a consumption meter has already been enabled, changing the location (Load Only or Load with Solar) is now possible and can be completed on the Meter Configuration page.

  2. Fixed an issue where the homeowner walkthrough is marked as completed when an IQ System Controller or IQ Battery is added to an existing PV-only system.
  3. Fixed commissioning discrepancies for systems with multiple IQ Gateways by making the steps completed on one IQ Gateway visible to the second IQ Gateway.

    The site status screen now includes a button for convenient connection and disconnection from an IQ Gateway using AP mode.

    When an installer attempts provisioning, a device scan check is now performed. If any devices remain unscanned, the system will display the details of those devices. The installer will then have the option to proceed and complete the missing device scans.

  3. Introduced a troubleshooting guide for mobile device connectivity issues in AP Mode
    A step-by-step troubleshooting guide has been added for situations where a mobile device encounters difficulty connecting to an IQ Gateway in AP mode.

  4. Simplified Grid Profile selection
    The Enphase Installer App now includes an automatic selection feature for the recommended Grid Profile based on the site location after IQ Gateway scanning. This eliminates the need to manually select the profile from a screen. If the recommended Grid Profile is not available, the app will automatically choose the default Grid Profile and bypass the selection screen.
     

  5. Improved reliability for Functional Validation
    Functional Validation can now be performed even in cases where microinverters are not generating power and the meter was previously enabled through the Enphase Installer Platform. A warning message is now displayed to ensure proper installation of the meter.

  6. Added an automated polarity verification check
    The Enphase Installer App will automatically verify polarity of the production meter when selecting the “I am an expert” option. If a polarity error is detected, a message will alert the user. The Enphase Installer app will show a warning indicating no production if the production value is less than 10 watts.
     

  7. Added an option to indicate 3rd party storage devices on a site
    For Enphase systems that include 3rd party battery devices, they can not be added to the System details screen in Step 1. Note : Enphase does not recommend mixing third party storage with Enphase energy system. It may impact the operation.

  • Fixed the issue where the Installer App was showing an invalid warning message of a grid profile fetching error after navigating inside the “Generate Summary” report screen.

  • Fixed the issue where, during commissioning for sites with string inverters, the Installer App was incorrectly setting the default reserved state of charge to 30% instead of 0%.

  • Fixed the issue where the Installer App wrongly restarts the grid profile propagation, even though it is already in progress, when the user tapped the “Try again” button in “Functional Validation”.

Bug fixes

  1. Fixed an issue where Step 2b in the Enphase Installer App was incorrectly shown as completed when no auxiliary contacts were configured.

  2. Fixed an issue where the Enphase Installer App did not allow the meter wizard to be enabled if the CT had a polarity issue.

  3. Fixed an issue where the Enphase Installer App incorrectly tried to perform a grid transition when the IQ Batteries were not ready, in cases where a generator was installed.

  4. Fixed an issue where the Enphase Installer App wrongly asked to enable the production CT for a system with an IQ Battery and a third-party PV.

  1. The Enphase Installer App will disable the “Join Online” button on the IQ Gateway connectivity screen if the IQ Gateway is restarting because of an update. This is done to prevent simultaneous updates and reduces the potential for errors.

    a. The polarity check for the production and consumption meter (will not allow the user to skip this step).
    b. When the reading is zero (will also not allow the user to skip).

  1. Installing IQ8 Microinverters with IQ System Controller/IQ Battery will now require completion of IQ8 certification training. There is no training required for commissioning of IQ8 Grid-tied systems.

  1. The Enphase Installer App will now remind users to turn ON the IQ Battery DC switch before starting functional validation.

  2. Enphase Installer App will now display warning if the Comms kit connected to Envoy is faulty. The users can retry by re-plugging in the device. If the issue persists, the Comms kit needs to be replaced.

  1. It is necessary to disable manual override on IQ System Controller before provisioning. If the user accidentally left the manual override enabled when provisioning IQ System Controller, the app will automatically disable the manual override and reset the device after provisioning is complete.

  2. You can now replace the IQ System Controller and IQ8 Batteries in the site by going to ‘Request return and Install replacement’ section.

  3. Improvements to ‘Sunlight Backup’ systems (systems with IQ8 and no batteries)

    1. Sunlight Backup systems will require 2 Enphase IQ Load Controllers and one aux contact configured for load shedding.

    2. Installers will be given additional instruction to configure NC1 and NO2 Aux contacts which include 
      1. Always connect non-heavy loads on NC1 and avoid heavy loads 
      2. Set up the NC1 in manual mode (always ON) 
      3. Always backup heavy loads on NO2, which will be switched off when solar power is less and to remind homeowners not to connect heavy loads during backup.

  1. Improvements to load control scheduled and advanced mode 

    a)Timings of scheduled mode can now be changed during load control. This will ensure that when the system goes off-grid, the connected loads would be switched ON only during the scheduled time
