There are 4 breakers installed with the IQ System Controller 2 load center. The position of these breakers is indicated in Figure 1.
The breakers for each of the positions numbered in Figure 1 are described in Table 1

The only instance of non-Eaton breakers that may be used is this: Siemens and ABB 40A breakers can be used with IQ System Controller 2 for the NFT position (position 2 in Figure 1), which is factory installed. Non-Eaton breakers are not otherwise approved, and should not be used for any other ratings apart from 40A. Furthermore non-Eaton breakers may not be used in any breaker position other than position 2. The reason for this is other breaker positions require hold down kits (exception mentioned in section below) and non-Eaton hold down kits are not approved with IQ System Controller 2.
As per NEC Article 408 all breakers which are back feeding into the load center need a hold down kit to ensure installers do not remove the breakers inadvertently.
As per NEC Article 705 concerning power connections if the power source which is back feeding is grid tied (or grid interactive) then there is no need for a hold down kit (Hold down kit as per article 408 is waived ). When IQ System Controller 2 is used with a IQ6/7 grid tied microinverter it is allowed to use 40A ABB or Siemens breakers. Other ratings are not to be used as stated above.
In IQ System Controller 2 the breakers connected to IQ8 Microinverters, IQ Batteries, and generators require a hold down kit. IQ System Controllers connected to IQ6/7 or older generations of grid-tied microinverters (through the IQ Combiner) do not require a hold down kit for the breaker connected to position 4. The breakers connected to IQ Battery and generator still require hold down kits.

No, alternate hold down kits are currently unavailable with IQ System Controller 2. Non-Eaton breakers cannot be used where a back feeding circuit is connected to the load center.
