This release is being deployed via an Enphase Installer App upgrade for new systems and remote software upgrades for existing systems.

The following known issues have been observed in IQ Gateway software version 7.6.172.

Known issues:

# Issue Description

1

Negative power consumption reported in Enphase App graphs

Negative power consumption graphs in the Enphase App can occur when there is a significant delay in data reporting from an IQ Battery to an IQ Gateway. This delay could be due to a software update, network glitch, or some other reason. When data reporting from the IQ Battery resumes, all the accumulated energy data is reported to the IQ Gateway at once, leading to an incorrect power estimation for that period of time. This event has no impact on system operation and will be fixed in upcoming software releases.

2

Zigbee communication dongle stuck in unknown state

For a small set of sites, the Zigbee dongle gets stuck in an unknown state by the IQ Gateway at the start of provisioning. An IQ Gateway restart using a breaker, or a remote reboot instruction issued to the IQ Gateway via Enphase Support, can be used to ensure the Zigbee dongle is successfully detected. This issue will be fixed in upcoming software releases.

Enphase Installer App release notes (3.31.0)
June 29, 2023

What’s new

  1. Integrated a Connect/Disconnect button on the site status screen
The site status screen now includes a button for convenient connection and disconnection from an IQ Gateway using AP mode.

    p1p2

  2. Automated device scan and troubleshooting
When an installer attempts provisioning, a device scan check is now performed. If any devices remain unscanned, the system will display the details of those devices. The installer will then have the option to proceed and complete the missing device scans.

    p3

  3. Introduced a troubleshooting guide for mobile device connectivity issues in AP Mode
A step-by-step troubleshooting guide has been added for situations where a mobile device encounters difficulty connecting to an IQ Gateway in AP mode.

    a

  4. Simplified Grid Profile selection
The Enphase Installer App now includes an automatic selection feature for the recommended Grid Profile based on the site location after IQ Gateway scanning. This eliminates the need to manually select the profile from a screen. If the recommended Grid Profile is not available, the app will automatically choose the default Grid Profile and bypass the selection screen.

  5. Improved reliability for Functional Validation
Functional Validation can now be performed even in cases where microinverters are not generating power and the meter was previously enabled through the Enphase Installer Platform. A warning message is now displayed to ensure proper installation of the meter.

    p6

  6. Added an automated polarity verification check
The Enphase Installer App will automatically verify polarity of the production meter when selecting the “I am an expert” option. If a polarity error is detected, a message will alert the user. The Enphase Installer app will show a warning indicating no production if the production value is less than 10 watts.

  7. Added an option to indicate 3rd party storage devices on a site
For Enphase systems that include 3rd party battery devices, they can not be added to the System details screen in Step 1. Note : Enphase does not recommend mixing third party storage with Enphase energy system. It may impact the operation.

    a

What’s fixed

  1. Corrected the display readings’ polarity when the meter was flipped.

  2. Addressed the prompts related to replacing an IQ Gateway in the Enphase Installer App.

  3. Fixed errors encountered during the IQ Gateway software update process.

  4. Resolved login failure issues reported by certain installers.

  5. Enhanced the optional IQ Gateway software update process by providing additional information.

  6. Added more messaging for retiring or replacing an IQ System Controller.

Feature enhancements

  • Lowers tare loss when IQ Batteries are idle or are not discharging at full power to serve loads.

  • Supports MODBUS over RS485 for a system using IQ8 Series Microinverters to meet grid interconnection requirements in Poland. IQ8 Microinverter supported MODBUS parameters are:

Parameter Operation
Limit Max Power Pct Enable (WMaxLimPctEna) Read/Write
Limit Max Power Pct Setpoint (WMaxLimPct) Read/Write
Constant Watt Mode operation (OpModConW) Read/Write

Note:

The MODBUS interface is disabled by default. Enphase Support can enable the interface remotely when required by regulatory bodies.

This release is being deployed via remote software upgrades for existing systems, and via factory for new systems.

The following known issues have been observed in the IQ Gateway software version 7.6.168 release:

Known issues:

#

Issue

Description

1

A large spike in consumption is reported in the Enphase App when the IQ Gateway software is upgraded to v7.6.168 from a version earlier than the v7.6.x releases

The Enphase App reports a huge spike in consumption whenever the IQ Gateway software is upgraded to v7.6.168 from a version earlier than the v7.6.x releases. Enphase mitigates this by deleting the records of that day for the system owner, thereby ensuring owner-facing energy consumption figures are not affected by this issue.

2

Non-detection of Zigbee communication dongle

For a small set of sites, the Zigbee dongle is not detected by the IQ Gateway at the start of provisioning. An IQ Gateway restart using a breaker, or a remote reboot instruction issued to the IQ Gateway via Enphase Support, can be used to ensure the Zigbee dongle is successfully detected. This issue will be fixed in upcoming software releases.

3

AC disconnect failure event reported in the Enphase Installer Platform for sites with third-party inverters

When the power exported or imported at the point of common coupling (PCC) exceeds allowed imbalance thresholds due to large, single-phase loads at a site, the IQ Gateway tries to balance the phases by limiting PV power production across phases. This is followed to reduce the home’s imbalance at the PCC.

If the imbalance continues, the IQ Gateway issues an AC Disconnect command which can disconnect the PV from the grid via an external contactor. The external contactor’s coil is connected to the IQ Gateway relay terminals (refer to the IQ Gateway wiring label for relay terminals “NO” and “C”).

Third-party string inverters are not controllable by the IQ Gateway. In such systems, power production from PV continues after the IQ Gateway issues an AC Disconnect command, leading to AC Disconnect failure events being reported by the IQ Gateway to the Enphase Installer Platform.

These events have no impact on system operation and will be fixed in upcoming software releases for systems with third-party string inverters.

4

Unnecessary curtailment of solar power generation for sites with M Series and IQ7 Series Microinverters

When a system has mix of IQ7 Series and M Series Microinverters, the IQ Gateway is unable to complete phase aggregation. That means the IQ Gateway is unable to identify the phases to which various IQ7 Series Microinverters are connected. Due to this phase aggregation failure, these microinverters do not follow the instructions from the IQ Gateway to change power output. Such changes are required to comply with power export limits or thresholds for imbalance allowed across phases. This can lead to excess curtailment of solar power generation in certain cases. The probability of this occurrence is low and will be fixed in upcoming software releases.

5

Negative power consumption reported in Enphase App graphs

Negative power consumption graphs in the Enphase App can occur when there is a significant delay in data reporting from an IQ Battery to an IQ Gateway. This delay could be due to a software update, network glitch, or some other reason. When data reporting from the IQ Battery resumes, all the accumulated energy data is reported to the IQ Gateway at once, leading to an incorrect power estimation for that period of time. This event has no impact on system operation and will be fixed in upcoming software releases.
