Fixed an issue where performance reports were not being sent from the IQ Gateway to the Enphase Cloud before timeout expiry.

Fixed an issue in scenarios where the generator line voltage in live status toggles frequently between correct and incorrect values.

Improves stability of the main panel upgrade avoidance feature for grid-tied Solar Only sites.

Fixed an issue with IQ Battery replacement where an older IQ Battery would not retire successfully for replacement with a new battery.

Reduces false positives of battery Current Transformer (CT) error detection.

Improves relay switching logic in grid-forming systems for smoother black starts.

Improves network registration behavior to reduce disconnections of the Mobile Connect cellular modem from the cellular network.

  • IQ Battery Oversubscription feature with IQ Battery 5P: Support for increased battery capacity with Enphase Power Control.

    • Provides higher backup capability for longer durations:

      • With IQ System Controller 3 up to 80 kWh i.e., 16x IQ Battery 5P units

      • With IQ System Controller 3G up to 40 kWh i.e., 8x IQ Battery 5P units

    • Saves labor cost for installers by avoiding dual IQ System Controller-based designs if the homeowner simply wants more battery capacity.

  • Main Panel Upgrade (MPU) Avoidance for PV and Battery systems: Enables installers to set a software-based current limit at installation time on the backfeed into the main panel for solar and battery backup systems and grid-tied, solar-only systems. This enables installers to avoid the cost and time due to an unplanned main panel upgrade. MPU Avoidance for grid-tied, solar and battery systems is coming soon.

  • Aggregate power export limiting: Enables installation of large Enphase PV systems with the provision of a software-based power export limit for regional compliance.

  • IQ Battery 5P import only: Eliminates costs, such as utility charges, for additional net generation output meter (NGOM) installation. Also eliminates feeder transformer upgrade during grid interconnection when solar nameplate is within the feeder transformer thermal limits; however, the addition of a battery requires a transformer upgrade.

Improved State of Charge (SoC) recovery

Improved State of Charge (SoC) recovery mechanism to prevent recurring microgrid collapses due to low battery SoC. In case of battery shutdown, provides estimated time of battery SoC recovery based on the solar production, when solar power is available.

In the absence of internet connectivity, view solar generation, battery SoC value, and estimated time of SoC recovery completion through the IQ Gateway Wi-Fi AP mode.

Support for automatic load-shedding at user-configurable SoC levels.


This release is being deployed to all IQ Gateway, IQ Combiner, and Envoy S devices stated above through the Enphase Installer App for new systems, as well as via remote software upgrades for existing systems.

IQ Battery support

Supports grid-tied solar and storage systems with IQ7 Series Microinverters and IQ Battery 3T/10T for countries where IQ Batteries are available. The software also supports IQ Battery 3T/10T along with IQ8 Series Microinverters for countries where IQ8 Microinverters and IQ Batteries are avaialble.

Compliant with phase balancing requirements to maintain imbalance between phases below the limit value

  • Supports Consumption CT-based phase imbalance management (PIM) for three-phase systems.

  • 3.68 kVA PIM requirement as specified in section A.3 of EN 50549-1:2019 is supported.

Note: M Series Microinverters and compatible third-party inverters are not controllable by the IQ Gateway. The IQ Gateway does not support PIM and power export limiting for these inverters.

Feature enhancements

  • Lowers tare loss when IQ Batteries are idle or are not discharging at full power to serve loads.

  • Supports MODBUS over RS485 for a system using IQ8 Series Microinverters to meet grid interconnection requirements in Poland. IQ8 Microinverter supported MODBUS parameters are:

Note:

The MODBUS interface is disabled by default. Enphase Support can enable the interface remotely when required by regulatory bodies.

A large spike in consumption is reported in the Enphase App when the IQ Gateway software is upgraded to v7.6.168 from a version earlier than the v7.6.x releases

The Enphase App reports a huge spike in consumption whenever the IQ Gateway software is upgraded to v7.6.168 from a version earlier than the v7.6.x releases. Enphase mitigates this by deleting the records of that day for the system owner, thereby ensuring owner-facing energy consumption figures are not affected by this issue.

Non-detection of Zigbee communication dongle

For a small set of sites, the Zigbee dongle is not detected by the IQ Gateway at the start of provisioning. An IQ Gateway restart using a breaker, or a remote reboot instruction issued to the IQ Gateway via Enphase Support, can be used to ensure the Zigbee dongle is successfully detected. This issue will be fixed in upcoming software releases.

AC disconnect failure event reported in the Enphase Installer Platform for sites with third-party inverters

When the power exported or imported at the point of common coupling (PCC) exceeds allowed imbalance thresholds due to large, single-phase loads at a site, the IQ Gateway tries to balance the phases by limiting PV power production across phases. This is followed to reduce the home’s imbalance at the PCC.

If the imbalance continues, the IQ Gateway issues an AC Disconnect command which can disconnect the PV from the grid via an external contactor. The external contactor’s coil is connected to the IQ Gateway relay terminals (refer to the IQ Gateway wiring label for relay terminals “NO” and “C”).

Third-party string inverters are not controllable by the IQ Gateway. In such systems, power production from PV continues after the IQ Gateway issues an AC Disconnect command, leading to AC Disconnect failure events being reported by the IQ Gateway to the Enphase Installer Platform.

These events have no impact on system operation and will be fixed in upcoming software releases for systems with third-party string inverters.

Unnecessary curtailment of solar power generation for sites with M Series and IQ7 Series Microinverters

When a system has mix of IQ7 Series and M Series Microinverters, the IQ Gateway is unable to complete phase aggregation. That means the IQ Gateway is unable to identify the phases to which various IQ7 Series Microinverters are connected. Due to this phase aggregation failure, these microinverters do not follow the instructions from the IQ Gateway to change power output. Such changes are required to comply with power export limits or thresholds for imbalance allowed across phases. This can lead to excess curtailment of solar power generation in certain cases. The probability of this occurrence is low and will be fixed in upcoming software releases.

Negative power consumption reported in Enphase App graphs

Negative power consumption graphs in the Enphase App can occur when there is a significant delay in data reporting from an IQ Battery to an IQ Gateway. This delay could be due to a software update, network glitch, or some other reason. When data reporting from the IQ Battery resumes, all the accumulated energy data is reported to the IQ Gateway at once, leading to an incorrect power estimation for that period of time. This event has no impact on system operation and will be fixed in upcoming software releases.

1 NEC Compliance Improvement IQ System Controller 2 firmware package included in this IQ Gateway software release meets the enter service (reconnect) time requirement defined in interconnection requirements. On rapid shutdown exit using the Enphase provided RSD switch, for a grid connected system, IQ System Controller closes the PV relays after enter service (reconnect) time elapses. The voltage and frequency criteria for synchronization is met after the enter service time elapses.

Installers have to contact Enphase Support while installing Enphase Energy Systems at the site with IQ Gateway which has software version 7.3.463 or lower version from the factory.

IQ Gateway software version 7.4.28 of IQ Gateway Metered supports embedded software with Microinverters, IQ Battery VDE Compliance and Enphase cell modem support on top of software version 7.4.7.

c. Support to follow the power gradients of the maximum active power (PA max) to increase or decrease the active power of the power generation system.

d. Introduces EnFluRi compliance requirements for Germany. The battery import or export to grid is curtailed in a fast manner as per the curve specified in the VDE-FNN Guideline for Energy Storage.

3 Bug Fixes and Feature Enhancements a. Reduces commissioning time for systems with IQ Gateway configured with default grid profile and IQ Relay opened.

b. Fixes an issue of oscillations in PV production power due to phase association of microinverters not occurring during commissioning.

c. Improved reliability of reporting data to the Enphase cloud following a period when the system was offline.

d. Fixes a battery import from grid issue for 3-phase systems.

e. Fixes an issue where system started exporting to grid even when the system configured to zero export limit and causes oscillations in PV production.

f. Fixes a commissioning issue where the grid profile propagation with IQ Battery would not complete due to re-initiating the commissioning sequence for the ZigBee repeater provisioning.

g. Fixes an issue where an IQ Gateway error was displayed when changing the grid profile.

1 Enhanced System Stability Improves the stability of microgrid during low power consumption, low PV production or high battery state of charge conditions.
2 Improvements in Battery Export Limiting Rules Improves battery export rules for utility interconnection compliance and disassociates them from import rules. The system now stops battery export when meter is disabled. Earlier software releases inadvertently curtailed PV production when there was momentary export from battery. Any violations of export and import rules will only affect battery and will not inadvertently affect PV power production.
3 Improvement on Commissioning Time Removes the delays in setup and Functional Validation (FV) completion of the system.
4 Enhanced Power Production Enhances power production by improving the battery controller features.
5 Bug Fixes and Feature Enhancements Improves the stability of system features.
