IQ Gateway software release notes (7.6.172)
July 1, 2023

IQ Gateway software version 7.6.172 supports grid-tied storage systems with IQ8 Series, IQ7 Series, or M Series Microinverters and IQ Battery 3T/10T via the Enphase Installer App. This release enables Consumption CT-based phase imbalance management (PIM) as the default method for complying with phase balancing requirements.

Bug fixes

  • Fixes production meter-based power export limiting.

  • Fixes the issue of live vitals not getting reported in the Enphase App.

  • Fixes the issue of phase aggregation in the power conversion units (PCU) leading to non-production of power for IQ8 Series Microinverters if upgraded from 7.0.88 to 7.6.168 via PLC scan.

  • Fixes the issue of prolonged system software update time, which leads to incomplete functional validation.

  • Fixes the issue of an IQ Battery getting stuck at 3% though maximum cell voltage has been reached.

  • Fixes the issue of the Zigbee communication dongle not being detected by the IQ Gateway at the start of provisioning. This resolves the previously known issue of mandatory rebooting of the IQ Gateway during this event.

  • Fixes the issue of software not getting upgraded during commissioning via the Enphase Installer App on iOS.


This release is being deployed via an Enphase Installer App upgrade for new systems and remote software upgrades for existing systems.

The following known issues have been observed in IQ Gateway software version 7.6.172.

Negative power consumption reported in Enphase App graphs

Negative power consumption graphs in the Enphase App can occur when there is a significant delay in data reporting from an IQ Battery to an IQ Gateway. This delay could be due to a software update, network glitch, or some other reason. When data reporting from the IQ Battery resumes, all the accumulated energy data is reported to the IQ Gateway at once, leading to an incorrect power estimation for that period of time. This event has no impact on system operation and will be fixed in upcoming software releases.

Zigbee communication dongle stuck in unknown state

For a small set of sites, the Zigbee dongle gets stuck in an unknown state by the IQ Gateway at the start of provisioning. An IQ Gateway restart using a breaker, or a remote reboot instruction issued to the IQ Gateway via Enphase Support, can be used to ensure the Zigbee dongle is successfully detected. This issue will be fixed in upcoming software releases.

IQ Battery support

Supports grid-tied solar and storage systems with IQ7 Series Microinverters and IQ Battery 3T/10T for countries where IQ Batteries are available. The software also supports IQ Battery 3T/10T along with IQ8 Series Microinverters for countries where IQ8 Microinverters and IQ Batteries are avaialble.

Compliant with phase balancing requirements to maintain imbalance between phases below the limit value

  • Supports Consumption CT-based phase imbalance management (PIM) for three-phase systems.

  • 3.68 kVA PIM requirement as specified in section A.3 of EN 50549-1:2019 is supported.

Note: M Series Microinverters and compatible third-party inverters are not controllable by the IQ Gateway. The IQ Gateway does not support PIM and power export limiting for these inverters.

Feature enhancements

  • Lowers tare loss when IQ Batteries are idle or are not discharging at full power to serve loads.

  • Supports MODBUS over RS485 for a system using IQ8 Series Microinverters to meet grid interconnection requirements in Poland. IQ8 Microinverter supported MODBUS parameters are:

Note:

The MODBUS interface is disabled by default. Enphase Support can enable the interface remotely when required by regulatory bodies.


This release is being deployed via remote software upgrades for existing systems, and via factory for new systems.

A large spike in consumption is reported in the Enphase App when the IQ Gateway software is upgraded to v7.6.168 from a version earlier than the v7.6.x releases

The Enphase App reports a huge spike in consumption whenever the IQ Gateway software is upgraded to v7.6.168 from a version earlier than the v7.6.x releases. Enphase mitigates this by deleting the records of that day for the system owner, thereby ensuring owner-facing energy consumption figures are not affected by this issue.

Non-detection of Zigbee communication dongle

For a small set of sites, the Zigbee dongle is not detected by the IQ Gateway at the start of provisioning. An IQ Gateway restart using a breaker, or a remote reboot instruction issued to the IQ Gateway via Enphase Support, can be used to ensure the Zigbee dongle is successfully detected. This issue will be fixed in upcoming software releases.

AC disconnect failure event reported in the Enphase Installer Platform for sites with third-party inverters

When the power exported or imported at the point of common coupling (PCC) exceeds allowed imbalance thresholds due to large, single-phase loads at a site, the IQ Gateway tries to balance the phases by limiting PV power production across phases. This is followed to reduce the home’s imbalance at the PCC.

If the imbalance continues, the IQ Gateway issues an AC Disconnect command which can disconnect the PV from the grid via an external contactor. The external contactor’s coil is connected to the IQ Gateway relay terminals (refer to the IQ Gateway wiring label for relay terminals “NO” and “C”).

Third-party string inverters are not controllable by the IQ Gateway. In such systems, power production from PV continues after the IQ Gateway issues an AC Disconnect command, leading to AC Disconnect failure events being reported by the IQ Gateway to the Enphase Installer Platform.

These events have no impact on system operation and will be fixed in upcoming software releases for systems with third-party string inverters.

Unnecessary curtailment of solar power generation for sites with M Series and IQ7 Series Microinverters

When a system has mix of IQ7 Series and M Series Microinverters, the IQ Gateway is unable to complete phase aggregation. That means the IQ Gateway is unable to identify the phases to which various IQ7 Series Microinverters are connected. Due to this phase aggregation failure, these microinverters do not follow the instructions from the IQ Gateway to change power output. Such changes are required to comply with power export limits or thresholds for imbalance allowed across phases. This can lead to excess curtailment of solar power generation in certain cases. The probability of this occurrence is low and will be fixed in upcoming software releases.

IQ Gateway software version 7.6.125 now supports grid-tied IQ Batteries in Austria.

1 Support for Austria Grid-tied IQ Battery 3T/10T is now available in Austria.
2 Increases battery capacity available for self-consumption Enphase Energy System owners can now use more of their battery capacity for self-consumption. Gateway software 7.6.125 enables batteries to discharge to 2% State of Charge (SoC) during normal operation. Previously batteries were restricted to discharge to 10% SoC to maintain battery health. The 7.6.125 software includes firmware version 2.1.29 for the Battery Management Unit (BMU) which ensures battery health even when discharging down to 2% SoC.

 

This release is being deployed via remote software upgrades for existing systems.

Verplaats de productie-CT's naar de kabels tussen de RCD en de schakelaar. Zo weet je zeker dat de cumulatieve waarden van de stroom van beide PV IQ Relay-aftakkingen worden gemeten.

Wordt er een Communications Kit meegeleverd met de IQ Combiner 3P EU?

Ja, de Communications Kit 1 is bij levering vooraf geïnstalleerd in de IQ Combiner 3P EU. Het USB-device ziet er misschien uit als een range-extender, maar dit is de Communications Kit 1 zonder de gebruikelijke behuizing (compact design). 

Welke IQ Relay wordt gebruikt in de IQ Combiner 3P EU?

De 3-fasige IQ Relays (Q-RELAY-3P-INT) zijn bij levering vooraf geïnstalleerd in de IQ Combiner 3P EU.

  1. Zet het deurtje zo wijd mogelijk open. 
  2. Haal het deurtje uit het hengsel door er in de richting van de hengselopening aan te trekken. 
  3. Zet het voorzichtig neer in de buurt van de installatieplek. 
Waar dient de doorzichtige plastic schijf voor op de IQ Combiner 3P EU?

De plastic schijf dekt de opening aan de voorkant van de IQ Gateway af. Bevestig de schijf pas nadat de rest van de installatie voltooid is.
