Power Control with busbar overload control
Power Control with busbar overload control guarantees that the total power on the main panel busbar remains within the recommended limits. This advanced technology intelligently adjusts the power output from solar panels and batteries based on grid input and home consumption.
As a result, it enables the safe installation of larger solar and battery systems while maximizing power through a larger back feed—without the need for costly upgrades to the main panel.
Without Power Control
The energy system size is limited by the main panel busbar and main breaker rating. This typically results in smaller PV systems without batteries.
Power Control on feeder
The backfeed current is still limited, but larger systems can be installed to produce more total energy throughout the day.
Power Control on busbar
The backfeed is managed dynamically using Power Control, eliminating limitations while keeping the main panel operating safely.
More power, easy installation
Whether configured for backup or not, Enphase Energy Systems require practically no additional hardware to take full advantage of Power Control with busbar overload control.
Systems without backup use the PV, battery, and consumption current transformers (CTs) to monitor all of the energy sources feeding the main panel. If the total exceeds the busbar rating, Power Control will curtail battery power first, followed by PV.
Systems with backup use the PV, battery, and consumption current transformers (CT) to monitor all of the energy sources feeding the main and the backup panels. If the total exceeds the main panel busbar rating, Power Control will curtail battery power first, followed by PV.
Consumption CTs are placed between the meter and the main panel enabling whole-home consumption monitoring via the Enphase App and enabling the batteries to offset loads on the main panel when the utility grid is up.
